Julia Zdarsky AKA Starsky is a visual projection artist from Vienna, Austria. Her visual style is playful, sophisticated and merges the disciplines of art as well as sociocritical-emancipatory and techno-scientific discourses. She is a master of interactive real-time projection of moving imagery. Her focus lies on video, animation and the inscription of multi-dimensional imagery in the urban space and onto urban architecture. “Light is space”, says the artist who frequently interacts with the public space by creating large-screen projections. Starsky designs enormous spacial blueprints composed of light – urban objects consisting of moving images filled with her own symbolism in the way she codes. She works both with and in architecture, in cities around the globe, communicating with the surfaces she projects her thoughts and feelings on.
